Meet Kylie
Richmond native, former human hairstylist, and pet groomer since 2015 — now the proud owner of The Shih Shed.
Kylie is the owner of The Shih Shed, a dogs-only grooming salon in Richmond, Kentucky. A Richmond native, she took ownership of the salon in 2026 from the previous owner, Stephen, and is honored to carry its reputation forward in her hometown.
Before she found her calling in pet grooming, Kylie worked as a human hairstylist. In 2015, she made the switch to caring for dogs and never looked back. For ten years, she owned and operated her own salon in Winchester, Kentucky, earning multiple "Best Pet Groomer of Winchester" awards along the way. She has a particular gift with schnauzers and a well-known soft spot for chihuahuas.
After a decade in Winchester, Kylie moved back to Richmond to raise her daughter in the town she calls home. Today, she brings that same patience, craft, and small-salon warmth to every dog that walks through the door at The Shih Shed.

Awards & Recognition
The Shih Shed has been named Best of the Best Pet Groomer in Madison County by the Richmond Register in 2022, 2024, and 2025. These honors belong to the salon as a business and reflect the trust our clients have placed in us over the years.
Before moving back to Richmond, Kylie was personally recognized as Best Pet Groomer of Winchester multiple times while running her own salon in Winchester, Kentucky.
